Hi from Antigua!!!

The finance and logistics people got here on Monday. My awesome family drove me down to Miami, so I could board the plane to Guatemala City. When we got to Guatemala City, our team parents and other world race staffers were there to greet us. We hopped in the buses and headed to Antigua. Much to my surprise, we are staying in a hostel. I expected to be in a tent for the week.

My squad is absolutely amazing. I heard a quote one time that talked about our society being 45 miles wide and two inches deep instead of 6 feet wide and 8 feet deep. It is so true and I hate that this fact has become a norm. Unfortunately though, I feel this way with my squad because I want to sit down and pick their brains for hours. There is just not enough time in the day when you have 44 fantastic people walking along beside you. They continue to challenge me everyday, which is definitely a good thing.

On Wednesday, we got to hike the volcano Pacaya. I love God's natural wonders. Most of us were dying in the first ten minutes, but we made it. We got to roast marshmellows on the lava. Three of the guys were roasting them and doing a wonderful job. Guess who was the first girl who decided to join in on the fun?!? 1200C is the temperature of the lava. I obviously didn't stand there long. :)

Tomorrow our teams split up. Some of the teams are staying in Antigua, some are going into the jungle, and my team and team Rhema are going to Puerto Barrios!!!!!!! I am really excited to see what is in store for us and to start ministry.  We will be doing construction work and helping one of the churches in whatever way they need.

Please pray for the safety of our teams and our ministry.
